Faro Airport to Lagos Transfer: Your 2026 Travel

Faro Airport to Lagos Transfer: Your 2026 Travel

In 2025, over 10 million passengers have flown through Faro Airport – an increase of over 6% from the previous year – and many of these direct flights have been destined for the western Algarve. One of the very first decisions that will form the basis of your trip to Lagos is how you will be making the journey across the approximately 85 kilometres between terminal and sea. Everything you need to know about an Faro airport to Lagos transfer in 2026 – every realistic possibility and how much each will be really is covered in this guide as well as, how to avoid the queues and cancelation that strikes first time visitors.

We are not a distant aggregator but an operator based locally in Lagos who are aiming for honest and up-to-the-minute information that will lead you to the right ride.

How do you get from Faro Airport to Lagos?

Short answer: There are four ways to do this as a practicality: pre-booked taxi transfer (fastest & from door to door, around 1 hour), public taxi (or route), seasonal Aerobus 56, short bus to Faro city and then regional rail. When you put your luggage in with the car, your flight may be late and you know you want to make it to your event, you need a booked car that waits for you. Because public options are less flexible, particularly during the winter months, and slower, they will cost more.

How far is Faro Airport from Lagos, and how long does it take?

Lagos is approximately 82-90 kilometres from Faro Airport, depending on which location you drop off at. The journey takes about 60 minutes in light traffic, albeit a little longer in peak hours during August weeks, by car along the A22 motorway. The alternative N125 route travels through several towns and is not toll free, so travels slower.

A booked car is about an hour door to door, depending on the spaces in between the train.

Faro Airport to Lagos by public transport

Even if you have to travel on a budget, you can do it here — it just requires planning.

The Aerobus 56, run by Vamus, is the only direct bus from the terminal to Lagos. May to October it runs about five times daily; May to December it runs only twice daily during the winter months—many arrivals miss it. Please refer to the latest timetable on the Vamus website.

The train route is quite pleasant and price affordable, but the only problem is that there are no trains running to the airport. Central Faro is reached via the local bus 16 or a short cab ride and then by local train (Comboios de Portugal) from central Faro to Lagos. This leg is approximately €7.50, 1 hour and 45 mins and runs 8-10 times a day. When people arrive late, the last practical trains are over, so they are nearly always looking for a car.

Private transfer, taxi, or Uber: which is best?

Welcome to a straightforward answer to the question you want answered.

If you don’t make a reservation, a public taxi works, but fares are metered, and increase approximately 20% during the night and at the weekends for larger groups, two taxis may be needed. In the Algarve, the taxi service is often inconsistent, with drivers canceling lifts during periods of high demand – an issue that Uber and Bolt often fail to overcome. There are very few problems with departing from Lagos for the airport, compared to the other way around.

With a pre-booked private transfer those problems are gone. There are no stops and you go directly to your accommodation, the driver logs your flight and won’t leave until you are made aware of your delay. Baby/Booster seats can be arranged and tolls have already been covered. Some small groups find it more economical to use a minivan rather than do public transit per person as the number of people increases above four. How much does a Faro to Lagos transfer cost in 2026?

Car transfer prices to Lagos typically begin at €78-€90 for a standard 4 passenger transfer and increase depending on the size of the average car used. Taxis are in a similar or slightly higher price range, but no guarantee that they will track flights.

There are three authentic methods for maintaining reasonable costs:

  1. Book early. Advance rates usually beat walk-up taxi fares.
  2. Split by group. Four people in one car almost always beats four separate tickets.
  3. Bundle the return. Reserving your Lagos to Faro Airport return at the same time avoids a stressful scramble on departure day.

How to book in a few steps

  • Enter your flight details, passenger count, and exact Lagos address when you book online.
  • Confirm extras such as child seats or a larger vehicle.
  • Receive written confirmation, then look for your driver holding a name sign in arrivals.

Because we are based locally, we also handle onward day trips. Our Algarve tours pair naturally with an airport pickup.

Where in the western Algarve do transfers reach?

A door to door service also doesn’t have to be limited to Lagos town centre. Popular destinations are Meia Praia, the Marina de Lagos, Praia da Luz, the golf and wellness clubs in the area and Burgau and Salema further west. It is fixed at the zone regardless of the price of the meter where your villa or hotel is located. People traveling eastward, however, inquire about our Faro Airport to Carvoeiro transfer service, which is run in a similar fashion.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a direct train from Faro Airport to Lagos?

No. The airport is not connected by a train station so get to the center of Faro by bus 16 or taxi, then by regional service to Lagos.

If you’re transferring a price, is it tolled or untolled?

Yes, with a good, reputable operator. The a22 motorway tolls are included at booking and you will not be charged an additional fee when you arrive.

May I pay the driver’s cash?

There are many operators, such as ours, who allow cash on delivery and card online. Please reserve the service of your choice at the time of booking.

If scheduled flights are delayed, what do I do?

Pre-booked car comes with flight monitoring and the driver makes appropriate adjustments on pick-up and waits for the flight at no additional cost. That’s the biggest benefit over a walk up taxi.

Is a transfer safe and reliable?

Choose a licensed, insured operator. Our registration, RNAVT 10239, is issued under Portugal’s tourism authority, Turismo de Portugal, and verified reviews sit on our Google Business Profile.
